Dime-a-dozen "Rebels"

…Another chat with the opposition. Amazingly, when discussing, debating, or arguing with the left (who will often not wish to be referred to as the left), they repeatedly express the same bottom-line conclusions that their type always reach. In the end, the entire discussion comes down to the fact (in their mind) that they have somehow come to see through "the lies, deceptions, and veils" that hide the truth from simpler souls. And when they finally reach this superior insightful position, what is their take on world events? …The anti-Bush, anti-U.S. worldview. Wow, isn't that special! The talking points become the same, "…no weapons of mass destruction, a hijacked election, and an American police state where the citizens 'only think' they are free because they believe what they are told in the newspapers."

So, how exactly do these hyper-wise souls come to acquire such novel insightful information and yet end up reaching conclusions that are as unique and profound as a plastic key ring?

When their clear partisanship is questioned, their response – always – is that they ultimately "take no side." They somehow dwell intellectually in a lofty realm that is completely uncommitted to any belief or side of modern political dispute, and then they repeat the mantras, "…no weapons of mass destruction, a hijacked election…, and …an American police state where the citizens 'only think' they are free because they believe what they are told in the newspapers." You won't hear them formulate or "unveil" possible conspiracies or express ill-will toward Fascist Muslim fanatics or utopian totalitarians – they "take no side," but clearly prefer only one side's appraisal of contemporary events.

The pampered mystics of modern anti-American Leftism don't seem to notice that, in their supposed unique and profound rebel insight, they're merely repeating the conspiracy theories and delusions of every Michael Moore script they've ever seen or read (hardly profound, insightful, or particularly rebel-like).

The left is consistent…but they aren't rebels. As far as insight or seeing through "the lies" they in fact do no more than accept other truths (occasionally) and other lies. They take a side (clearly), have little gripe with Islamo-fascism, totalitarian socialism, or massive government bureaucratic power, but find all acts of evil, danger, and deception in the world to stem from a guy from Texas who will be out of office in two years and the supposed police state he rules from.

From the far left (and that's as appropriate a label as any for them) I keep hearing the same skepticism toward the same sides (and not the others) and the same suggestion that the anti-U.S., anti-Bush position is somehow the result of their unique and powerful insight. Beneath it all; the bogus big lie of all strains of leftwing politics, that the one espousing such "insight" is somehow an independently thinking rebel.

They may be consistent in their talking points, their delusions regarding world affairs and a belief in their own superior insight and judgment, but they aren't rebels, 'Never have been, never will be.

Anti-Americanism is not only unprofound, like its many espousers …it's boring.
